Monzo layouts can vary by account type, statement period, and document quality. Process a representative file first, then compare dates, signs, row count, and balances with the source before using the export downstream.

Transfers are encrypted with TLS 1.3. Source PDFs are deleted after processing. Exception: source PDFs for multi-table extractions by signed-in users may be retained for up to 7 days for quality review. We do not ask for or store your banking credentials.

Yes. Monzo is app-only and generates its statements natively as digital PDFs rather than scans, so the text is selectable and consistently structured — Date, Description, Amount and Balance, one transaction per row. That makes the conversion to CSV or Excel highly accurate, with very few wrapped lines or misread characters.

Movements between your main Monzo balance and your Pots appear as transactions on the statement. After converting to a spreadsheet you may want to filter or categorise these separately, since they are internal transfers rather than genuine income or spending and can otherwise distort your totals.

Monzo statements use a single signed Amount column — negative values for spending and positive values for money received — alongside a running Balance. When converting, you can keep the single signed column or split it into separate debit and credit columns to match what your accounting software expects on import.
