Transform your Monzo PDF bank statements into usable Excel or CSV files in just a few clicks.
About Monzo
Monzo is the UK's largest digital bank with over 12.5 million personal banking customers, making it one of the fastest-growing financial institutions in Europe. Rated #1 for customer satisfaction by the CMA and a Which? Recommended Provider, Monzo generates clean, digital-native PDF statements that include transaction date, merchant name, category, amount, and running balance — structured for effortless conversion to Excel or CSV.
Pro tip — How to download your statements
In the Monzo app, go to Account > Statements and select your date range to download a PDF statement. Monzo's natively digital PDFs extract with excellent accuracy.

- Date Description Amount Balance
- Date format

- Decimal separator
- period (1,234.56)
- Running balance
- Yes
- Multi-line labels

Monzo is an app-only digital bank, so its PDF statements are generated natively and are clean and consistently laid out: one transaction per row with Date, a single Description (merchant name), one signed Amount (negative for spending, positive for money in) and a running Balance. Because the PDF is digital rather than scanned, the text extracts reliably and descriptions rarely wrap across lines.
Download your Monzo statement as PDF
- 1 Open the Monzo app and go to the Account tab.
- 2 Tap into the account, then open 'Statements' (sometimes under account settings or the documents area).
- 3 Pick the date range or month you want a statement for.
- 4 Export or download the statement as a PDF (Monzo can also share it directly).
- 5 Upload the PDF to convert it to CSV or Excel.
Extraction pitfalls to watch
Format quirks to know before converting a Monzo statement.
- Monzo uses a single signed Amount column (negatives for spending); if your accounting software expects separate debit and credit columns, the amount has to be split by sign.
- Pots transfers (moving money between Monzo Pots and the main balance) appear as transactions and can look like real income or spending if not labelled.
- Emoji and special characters in merchant descriptions can occasionally garble in a poor converter, so character encoding should be preserved.
- Choosing a custom date range that overlaps a previous export can duplicate transactions, so keep statement windows non-overlapping.

Yes, you can upload up to 5 files simultaneously. Each page uses 1 credit (5 on signup, then 5/month).
Yes. Monzo is app-only and generates its statements natively as digital PDFs rather than scans, so the text is selectable and consistently structured — Date, Description, Amount and Balance, one transaction per row. That makes the conversion to CSV or Excel highly accurate, with very few wrapped lines or misread characters.
Movements between your main Monzo balance and your Pots appear as transactions on the statement. After converting to a spreadsheet you may want to filter or categorise these separately, since they are internal transfers rather than genuine income or spending and can otherwise distort your totals.
Monzo statements use a single signed Amount column — negative values for spending and positive values for money received — alongside a running Balance. When converting, you can keep the single signed column or split it into separate debit and credit columns to match what your accounting software expects on import.
